Rhode Island Children's Book AwardThe Hope Valley fourth graders are encouraged to read as many of these books as they can. We have most of them here at the library on a special shelf. Each fourth grade student has his or her own laminated bookmark with a list of all the R.I. Children's Book Award Nominees printed on it, along with plot summaries. Each time they read one of the books, students can come to the library and give the librarian an oral summary of the book. They then get to rate the book with a colored star on a chart in the library and they receive a hole-punch in their bookmark next to the book they have read. Fourth graders are getting ready to vote for their favorite book which will be submitted along with other schools in Rhode Island to determine the winning book. |
